Class associations

The class association: owners, certificates and a calendar that travels

A one-design or box-rule class has owners scattered across clubs and countries, measurement certificates that must be current to race, and a championship calendar that is the reason most members join.

What usually goes wrong

  • 01

Hull numbers, owners and certificates live in three different files kept by three volunteers.

  • 02

A boat changes hands and the new owner is not a member, but still races.

  • 03

Championship entries come through a form on a free service that loses the data every two years.

  • 04

Dues differ by country and are collected by national representatives in cash.

A season with SupaGuild

  1. Setup

Import the owner list, map hull and sail numbers to custom fields, load certificates as qualifications with their expiry.

  2. Renewal

Dues invoiced by tier; owners renew in the portal and upload the new certificate when the measurer signs it.

  3. Championship

Entries open on the public event page, member price for paid-up owners, waitlist when the venue is full, check-in on the first day.

  4. Transfer

A boat is sold: the new owner applies through the public form, the committee approves, the hull record moves with the certificate.

Questions

Class associations

01Can we make a certificate a condition for entering a championship?

Entries can be limited to members in good standing; a valid certificate can be required as a document at registration and checked by the race office. An automatic block on certificate expiry is not shipped yet.

02Do national fleets need their own account?

No. Chapters give each national fleet its own administrators and view of the register under one class association.
